Shep is a wise male Collie that acts as the leader of all animals which are not horses at Horseland.
He is a very loyal ranch dog and always helps the kids and horses in times of trouble. Often Shep is the voice of reason for Teeny, Angora and the horses.
Shep relates stories to Teeny and Angora to illustrate a moral or a lesson. His owner is Bailey and Shep has been with him since puphood.
An episode usually starts with Angora, Teeny and Shep. Shep was jealous when Cubby came along, but they eventually become friends. He was also the first dog in the show.
