Shep is an older male brown and white collie dog that works at Horseland. His owner is Bailey, and Shep has been with him since he was just a puppy.
Shep is a loyal dog and always helps the kids and horses in times of trouble. He is extremely caring and level-headed, and also has a playful streak. Often Shep is the voice of reason for Teeny, Angora, and the horses. Shep is also seen to occasionally be a fairly jealous dog, as seen when Cubby makes his appearance, Shep gets jealous that nobody was paying attention to him anymore. It was shown that Shep used to have a close relationship with Mosey during Mosey's episode.
Shep relates stories to Teeny and Angora to illustrate a moral or a lesson. Episodes usually start with Angora, Teeny, and Shep talking to each other to introduce the plot. Episodes usually end with Shep having taught Angora or Teeny a lesson from what the riders or horses did previously, which suggests that he always wants whats best for Horseland.
